It is so important to apply to many awards. Start applying very early in your education, many applicants can be as young as junior high students. There are thousands out there that match what you do so apply to many. Scholarships are a lot like the lottery, that is why you must apply to as many as you can to win as much money as possible.

Keep an updated academic resume on hand to send in with applications. List on it all of your academic skills and achievements, awards you've won, clubs, and jobs or volunteer experience. Many applications ask for this and it is a good way to complete applications faster so you can do more of them.

Many applications ask for a personal essay too. This is often based on why you should receive that award, or what your major is in university and why you chose it or what your goals are for your adult life and career. Write one of these essays and edit it a little before you send it out to every scholarship, this makes the process faster and easier.

Look to online resources to find scholarships and check often. But also remember to check your school, the university you are attending, employers of family members, clubs and organizations in your home town or state or the place you go to school in. Do not count any scholarships out until you really find out they won't accept your application.

Winning scholarships for your education may seem like a hard task, but it doesn't have to be. Apply to as many as you can find, and don't ignore those worth only a few hundred dollars because all money you win adds up to less student loans, and that is a very good thing.
