Description

I feel that students can benefit so much more from getting life experience while teaching math. I have decided to get rid of the text book. My students are creating businesses to help them understand what they are doing in school could help them in real life. Using scenerios to force them to thing about math problems. This is a work in progress and would like any info or comments.

An appeal to everybody :

Hi,

About 8 million children in India are denied their basic right to education. With the Right to Education Act making education free and compulsory, we must now join hands to help these children exercise this right.

UNICEF has started a movement Awaaz Do that provides us a platform to ensure that no child in this country is denied his/her basic right to education. Pledge your support to the cause.

To join the cause,
Log on to www.AwaazDo.in
Indians can also SMS AWAAZDO to 53030

I share same opinion; maths for some pupils just feels like a mad game that fits no where in daily life. By relating teaching to real life situations makes it great and facilitates learning.

Fabo idea! Most of our teaching these days in too textually based. Children need to see how what they are learning can be incorporated into their daily lives. Seeing, touching and experiencing is a more realistic approach to learning. Would love to share ideas and find out how this approach works for you.

I think your Idea is a great one. Anything that gets kids out of the textbooks has to be better than the norm. Best of luck!
