Hi,
I created this group because on Jan 4, I begin a new job teaching technology to teachers in 8 elementary schools. As I come from a higher ed teaching background, I'm wondering about the technological proficiencies of the "typical" elementary school educator. What technologies are you currently incorporating into your curriculum? What technology would you like to learn or have available for your classes?

I am just an elementary school teacher, but I have implemented this site for my students: http://www.quia.com/pages/mrsaskew/carver and have made this site for my co-workers to help them with their planning: http://www.quia.com/pages/mrsaskew/forteachers .

I just found you but am a high school teacher. Is this site something I can benefit from or is it just elementary based?

In the school I'm in, the teachers just had smart boards installed. It seems like, as with all things, the installation came ahead of a real education concerning how to use the boards. Almost every day, I hear one of the teachers having a problem with their board not functioning properly. In one instance, the 6th grade teacher lost her board on two different occasions. The first time, the technician decided that the port was bad and plugged her laptop into a different port. I don't know what the issue was on the other occassion. The problem is that because these smart boards were installed in front of the regular marker white boards, the teachers have no alternatives when the smart boards malfunction. This might be a great topic for your schools.
