We all know that the competition our students will face in the future can come from all around the world. Not everyone in the public school has a chance to physically go abroad to see and meet people in other country. But what we do have in public school is well-equipped computer labs. The kids have access to internet. If I can pull this off, hopefully they will graduate with a broader view of the world and higher motivation toward English learning. I hope to find someone whose class might want to do same, and we can work on a plan for spring. (The age of my class is around 11.)

Maru,
Hi!Are you still on this e-mail exchage? Would it be possible that my students join in? They are EFL students at A1/A2 level (CEF scale) Please let me know, I find this could be very enriching, I mean having students write for a real reader and with clear purpose.

I work as a technology coordinator for an education service agency in Arizona. One of our biggest challenges is in coordinating time zones for video conferencing. Would you be willing to share what one of your guided writing lesson plans look like and an assignment, and how to follow through to connect with corresponding class?

Of course, the plan was made before we met. Now I'd like to know your opinions and your ideal schedules so that to make another plan that works for both sides.
Here is the website of our school: http://www.shes.tp.edu.tw You may have an idea about what it's like.
Here's my email address: a00128connie@gmail.com
Again, it is really nice to meet you here. I think both of you have what it takes to be a good teacher for just trying this hard for your youngsters.

The reason we choose "guided writing" is because our students is not comfortable to write freely yet. It will take a few times of re-write to make it good to read.
And since we are in different time zone, real-time correspondence such as MSN is not possible.

Dear Amy and Alejandra: It's really wonderful to have the chance to connect the world! My co-teacher and I are thrilled to hear from you! Before we hear from you, our plan is a guided writing email correspondence roughly like this: capable students around 10~13; writing schedule:(1)self-introduction(get to know each other),(2)holiday greetings(ex. Hollween, Thanksgiving), (3)selected topic(through our discussion)

Amy,
I would definitely be interested in having my students correspond with yours. I have 13, 10-12 year olds. We are from a private, academically talented school. Please let me know if this interests you!
