Jeremy Gilley founded Peace One Day in 1999 as part of his mission to establish the first ever day of global ceasefire and nonviolence. Ever since the UN passed a resolution declaring Sepember 21 the International Day of Peace we have been working hard to institutionalize the day! As part of that we have created a FREE online education Resource that contains 21 lesson plans and 28 classroom activities focused on issues like conflict resolution, intercultural cooperation, ending bullying, the United Nations, and the link between sustainability and peace!

There isn't nearly as much information on best practices and lesson plans for adolescent reading as there is for early childhood. I am hoping other middle and secondary reading teachers can collaborate, sharing curriculum and motivation ideas.
